"General staff, nurses, specialists, doctors and..."

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

The general staff were excellent, helpful and friendly.

The nurses were all fantastic and again, helpful, caring and friendly.

The other specialist I saw were lovely, the staff who took photographs of my eyes couldn't have been more caring, friendly or professional.

However that is where my good reviews stop. The consultant was so excited to have a case of

Macular Telangiectasia, they forgot I was also a person and a patient. Whilst i am sure that it is wonderful to be able to help out in the MAC Tel Project and promote research into a rare disease, I am still going to go blind and a little sympathy for that fact would have been nice. It was a shock to be told that I would lose my sight in 10 - 20 years on my first visit in December. It was also a shock to be told on my second visit in January that I only 5 - 10 years left. I know from previous experience that some consultant think they are God, but this one is pompous and is training their Doctors to be the same.

First of all thank you for the appreciative comments you posted about the majority of staff you saw. However we are very concerned to hear of your experience with the consultant, especially on occasions when you were receiving such difficult news and we apologise for this. Your comments have been passed on to the senior staff to address.
