What I liked

I found at this hospital the intensive care staff from receptionist, nurses to medical professionals were fantastic in the care of my mum. There is not enough praise in the world that could be shown to this section of the hospital they was all fantastic to my mum as well as us the family and other visitors. we was always kept updated with the care of my mum and even when times got difficult they showed great support while remaining extremely professional. they engaged us in personal care of my mum and we felt very much a part of the care for my mum. Fantastic through and through. My greatest gratitude to all the staff with in the intesive care unit!!!

What could be improved

My mum was moved to Firth 9 then the stroke unit and then firth 4. From the moment she was moved from intensive care unit her care deteriorated Nurses seemed to busy with gossip and planning their nights out to actually give a damn about my mum. My mum became very confused during the treatment and instead of reassurance they treat her with little or no dignity making jokes about her and her condition. I would like to have seen any of them go through what my mum went through and come out with sound mind. The general care of my mum was disgraceful. Only one nurse on the stroke unit seemed to bother with my mum she was a student nurse and if I could remember her name I would direct praise just to her as this is the only praise to be given in this statement. Otherwise the care was so appalling we as the family took care of my mum. I would like to say I understand these nurses were busy but this would be far from the truth they ignore calls from the patients and spend time talking amongst themselves that a patient with an amputated leg had to fetch a nurse to care for my mum! I'm just a shamed that this is the sort of care the patients have to endure and us as visitors have to see. we want to see the patients taken care of not wasting away. This may seem extreme but believe me this message could not be closer to the truth.
