"Xray no Hoist"

About: Barnet Hospital

Having booked an appointment and explained that the patient was elderly and had special needs and that a hoist would be required , I was assured that one would be available . On the day of the scan I rang the dept and checked again that a hoist would be need for the patient and was assured that there would be one available and that we should arrive early to make sure that we were all set up in time for the scan.

On arrival i spoke to the receptionist explaining the situation, they seemed disinterested and just waved us to the waiting room. We need not have got their early, to our dismay the nurse came out and explained there was no hoist.

The operator tried to scan the patient in his wheel chair but frankly I feel it was a waste of our time and money to get the patient their. The lumps are so much more pronounced when he is flat.

I feel the scan was inconclusive as a result and a waste of out time and money getting the patient there. The patient is a very elderly, house bound and was extremely anxious about going to hospital. Very disappointed .
