"Disappointed with mental health institution"

About: Leverndale Hospital / Mental Health

(as a parent/guardian),

Contrary to all that we had been told, my son, a vulnerable adult, was released from Leverndale Hospital with no prior warning. I was informed after the event and have spent the last week trying to locate him.

He has turned up in Prison and is charged with breach of the peace with bail refused.

I am speechless. I have no words to describe the anguish I feel for my son and the disappointment I feel with the mental health institution.

I work in a small team in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde which seeks to involve patients and carers in the work of the NHS. The biggest part of my role is in managing feedback projects across the Board area, one of which is Patient Opinion. It is my job to give our patients and carers the opportunity to give us feedback, and to make sure that this is passed to the right people to help us improve the services we provide.

Dear cfr,

I am so sorry to read this and can only imagine how worried and upset you must be at this time. I appreciate that you are feeling let down at the moment however it is difficult for me to understand the circumstances around your son's discharge from Leverndale from the information you have been able to provide here. Would you be able to get in touch with me directly so that myself and colleagues can look into this a bit more?

We may be limited in the information we are able to give you, although this very much depends on what arrangements were in place while your son was in our care in hospital. We will however do our very best to put you in touch with the right people who may be able to support both you and your son in the most appropriate way.

With very best wishes,

Lorna

Hello Lorna.

If I reply here, is it private?

Hi cfr,

No, sorry that was an oversight of mine, I meant to put my direct email address on my last post - it's lorna.gray@ggc.scot.nhs.uk.

Look forward to hearing from you,

Lorna
