Last Thursday I'd been suffering chest pains all day, only mildly, but the aches started traveling down my arms. By 10pm, I decided enough was enough and sought advice from NHS 111 who duly sent an ambulance.
The paramedics - Jez and Nigel, were on the scene within 5 minutes and they were an absolute godsend. They were professional and thorough, whilst remaining sympathetic and reassuring. They explained in detail just what was going on and after a quick exam, the ECG revealed potentially worrying readouts and Asprin was administered. By this stage I was in a bit of a state, worrying that I was having a heart attack. As a 30 year old bloke in reasonable shape, this wasn't how I'd seen my evening going, but the guys from SWAST were not only duly dilligent, but humanly reassuring; they remained calm, kind and sympathetic and understanding.
They took me into RCH Treliske for further testing, I was later discharged in the early hours and told the pains were unlikely to be related to heart trouble. All of the staff at Treliske were reassuring, professional and very thorough during what was a very busy night at A&E. I can't give them enough credit for the jobs they did, particularly those paramedics who responded to the call. Wonderful, real human beings - down to Earth and friendly.
"Excellent human touch from SWAST paramedics"
