"The Mansfield and Ashfield Men's Group"

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Posted on behalf of a service user with their permission.

Going to the men’s group in Kirkby has made me happy. We learnt new things and worked as a team and I made some new friends, it was really cool. The other men and the staff were really kind and helpful, I was able to talk to them and they supported me when I was not feeling good. We were able to have a say in how the grouped worked which I liked doing. I would have liked the room to be bigger but it had a pool table and a kitchen which was good and I helped to cook meals. I enjoyed helping in the kitchen because I would like to move out of home and live more independently, overall everything was cool be did some good activities like sports and games and talked about being safe and looking after ourselves. Some of the subjects were a bit embarrassing but that’s good because it’s important to talk. I would like to do another group in the future which would be very good.

Thank you for your feedback and honesty, the information you provide helps us to plan and deliver future services. We are pleased to hear you have found the men’s group beneficial and we thank you for all the hard work and support you have provided to others. Paul and I will pass on your feedback to our manages and will do everything we can to keep supporting you now that the group has finished. You should feel very proud of the work you have accomplished and it is clear to me that without your positivity, and that of your fellow members, the group would not have worked so well. I understand you would like to attend similar groups/courses in the future so I shall keep you informed about any groups the Occupational Therapy / Community Learning Disability teams run or hear about. Keep up all the positive work and we wish you will with your future transisition..

Best wishes,

Paul.
