"Out patients follow up visit"

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

I visited the Aconbury West, Highfield Unit following surgery at Redditch Hospital as a routine follow up appointment. I was thinking that I would probably have my suters removed and was very apprehensive about it as my hand was very sore.

The nurse (Health Care Worker) removed the dressing and could obviously see that I was nervous. This lady reassured me that she would be taking the stitches out as long as the doctor gave her the say so and told me to try and not worry.

A friend was with me, Katrina apologised to her for having her back to her as she was needing to deal with me and explained she wasn't being rude. Doctor gave Katrina the go ahead to remove them and I was very nervous and uptight to say the least. Katrina explained what she was going to do and told me that if at any time I felt like a rest she would stop if I asked her too.

After taking out a few stitches she could see I was going very pale and stopped for a while, asked me if I wanted a glass of water and when I apologised to he for being a whimp she said no you're not at all, she told me I was the only important person in the room and it was only me that matters.

This lady was outstanding and deserves credit for her work and empathy. I did thank her very much for how she treated me but really felt that whoever manages this lady knows how hard and caring she is.

Please could you pass these words on to Katrina and her manager so that she can be recognised for her outstanding work.
