What I liked
Majority of the staff were switched on and respectful of the fact I am disabled.
What could be improved
Share of information to other shifts and an understanding of peoples dis/abilities. I have suffered numerous strokes and I have an inoperable brain tumour. Due to these I suffer from polyneuropathy caused by demyelination.
My family care for me at home and I require help with shower, bathing, etc...
As I had had a laproscopic procedure my stomach had been inflated and I was unable to clean my backside. A number of nurses were understanding and they assisted however a few nurses on Ward 4 refused to help me and I was left to it feeling humiliated and unclean.
Anything else?
I am a 38 year old male who does manage to work but does require help due to my disabilities. If I was treated like this then what about those who have less of a voice or ability to communicate.
I think that my overall care was fine but due to certain mistakes and lack of knowledge nd understanding I was totally let down.
It is a shame because I actually used to work there and enjoyed my time but now I am ashamed of Wansbeck.
