"Poor Treatment"

I had an appointment 18/12/15 with the doctor. I have purposely let time elapse to carefully consider what action I should take regarding the doctor's offensive behaviour rather than writing on impulse. After calling out my name in the reception area the doctor said that they remembered me from 4 or 5 years ago and that we had fallen out on that occasion. I said that I remembered the doctor but don't recall falling out and said that I hoped we would get on better on this occasion. This was all said in the waiting room in front of other people. The doctor's manner did not improve and I consider their attitude to be totally unprofessional and unacceptable. The doctor went on to dictate notes into their tape recorder that under the circumstances I found to be offensive. The doctor stressed the point that they knew me very well which I interpreted to mean that the doctor found me to be an awkward patient. I don't recall having ever fallen out with the doctor but if I had, it would have been for a good reason. This doctor is in a position of power over their patients and I for one would not trust them to look after my well being. An important part of any doctor’s roll is to put patients at ease. For very many years I have been chairman of an organisation entrusted to deal on member’s behalf with many sections of authorities including police, disciplinary committees and various council departments. I would not have been elected to represent members if I could not be civil or professional in my conduct. I will not be returning to this hospital whilst this doctor remains in their post.

I am really sorry you did not have a good experience during a visit to our outpatient department and I understand the Consultant in question has responded directly to you.
