"2 night stay in warrington general"

About: Warrington Hospital

So my partner was taken into hospital 4 days after having a tonsilectomy - Her mouth was bleeding at a rapid rate which urged us to called the emergency services-

She was taken into A+E and put into the waiting room, whilst losing a large amount of blood from her throat.

We waited in A+E for 90 minutes ( Which is quite impressive for a saturday night)

To then get referred to the SAU (surgical assessment unit) Which we then sat for another 90 minutes-

She was then seen by a doctor and was told she has to stay overnight.

At this point my partner hadn't taken any painkillers for 6 hours.

after eventually getting onto the ward and into her bed, we stressed too the nurse that my partner was in alot of pain and discomfort having waited around for hours to be seen.

As i was leaving i went to find the nurse to stress the pain my partner was in, to which i was told 'the doctor is on their way as we speak'

I left to go home and messaged my partner in hospital, 2 hours later, she was seen with pain killers and anti-biotics

I am fuming with the service to say the least.

Day two- was a little better than day 1- with pain killers arriving when they should have been, until later in the day when my partner hadn't been too the toilet in days! she was in agony, her stomach balooned. She was due painkillers at 16:30 to which she received them at 18:00, seems time management means nothing in this place.

Crying with pain, the nurses wouldnt prescribe her with the nesscesary drugs to help her bowel movements.

She had a problem with her drip, which was causing her pain, to which it had to be moved.

I am very dissapointed so say the least, and will not be going to this hospital again.

I would urge people to stay clear, and go to a different A+E.

I also wouldnt reccomend for overnight stay.

Sorry to hear that your partner's experience wasn't so good with us. We would like to find out more so we can explore what happened. Could you email our PALS service via pals@whh.nhs.uk so we can take a look. Thank you.
