What I liked
The dillengence & general cheeriness of the nursing & auxillary staff on Wards 12 and 28. The dignity afforded to patients. The time and efforts given to patient's family & visitors. The dedication & care afforded by all staff to our mother, in particular by the Consultant.
What could be improved
On most occaisions, particularly at weekends and with staff shift changes, extra effort is needed to ensure full continuity of patient information. Communication is the key. I was particularly surprised to see a file of hand-written notes being maintained as the primary communication tool in this technological world!
Anything else?
At one stage during our mother's stay a 'deep clean' suddenly took place over a weekend, causing all patients & equipment to be relocated out of the ward down 2 flights of stairs. Little / no prior warning was given to visitors and one of the two lifts was out of order.
