"It felt that I had a new ear"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as the patient),

I had to attend the Audiology Department to have a BAHA Testing done in late December 2015.

When I arrived at the Audiology Department for my appointment. I met with the Senior Audiologist named Sam. We discussed what was going to happen and what I might expect, of which I was very pleased and found the Audiologist to be very informative. She was excellent in her performance and understanding of my Hearing Loss and very, very compassionate towards me.

Sam explained everything to me firstly before I went on a two hour experiment the the BAHA Machine. (BAHA is a Bone Anchoring Hearing Aid) for those tha do not know. I thoroughly did test this equipment.

When I returned back to the Department, I was asked, what was my experience and how did I get on.  To Sam's amazement, I said: It was fantastic, it felt that I had a new ear. Sam could not believe my answer, I gave her.

Sam is going to write to my Professor I am being monitored by, to give him the good news, as she herself thought it would most probably not suit me. She was delighted to hear my news! ! !

I am now waiting to hear whether the Funding and Approval from our Local CCG would approve the funding for this.

I was so pleased the trial of this equipment actually worked. I now look forward to hearing about my next step going forward.

Many thanks to my Professor and Sam, the Senior Audiologist.

Thank you very much for feeding back on your experience with the bone anchored hearing aid.
