"Rainbow Ward"

About: Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital

My 6-year-old daughter received excellent care on Rainbow Ward when admitted for appendicitis 2 days ago. The nurses were quick to respond to questions/requests and we were consulted regarding her treatment regularly. The operation itself was straightforward and the theatre staff could not have been kinder or more professional. I was in bits, but the nurse was very kind to me and checked to see how I was coping. Great post-op care with regular checks and very kind/sympathetic nurses. No waiting for care, sufficient number of staff and very clean ward. Thumbs up Rainbow Ward...what a lovely environment for poorly children. Lots of toys and bright, colourful murals. Could not have asked for more. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you so much for your very kind comments about Rainbow Ward - it certainly lives up to its name with regard to colour!

It is good to know that the staff cared for your dear daughter so well and you too.

I can completely understand your distress regarding her appendicitis and I know that the staff are more than happy to provide advice, information and the reassurance we parents need.

I hope that your daughter is now fully recuperated from the operation and has bounced back from this episode.
