"Car park nightmare"

I took my wife today to Preston hospital for a minor operation which could easily have been carried out at Chorley.

I was unable to get a parking space on any of the car parks and had to drop off my wife to make her own way without my support. This could so easily have been avoided as car parking problems have been obvious for years and have not been adequately addressed. With more procedures being centralised at Preston, this will only get worse.

Why not move routine procedures to other hospitals to reduce demand on car park places or build a multi storey car park. It would recoup the cost from the exorbitant fees. Alternatively they should provide a park and ride.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. I was sorry to hear of your experience and apologise to you and your wife for the distress and frustration caused by the difficulties you experienced in obtaining a car parking space.

We are conscious of the fact that car parking can be a problem at times and are considering all available options to address this issue, which do include the potential for building a multi-story car park.

We are also currently undertaking a significant amount of work to review where our various services are provided and how our hospital sites can best be used to support the delivery of services in the best way for the benefit of our patients.

We do, however, appreciate that whilst this work is taking place, our patients and visitors, together with our staff, continue to experience difficulties in parking and, for that reason, we are working to identify and implement more immediate solutions to address this issue.
