"Horrendous experience"

About: Salisbury District Hospital

My wife was brought into the main emergency department with post Labour abdominal pains. From ED she was sent to the maternity day assessment unit to be seen by a doctor. She was in for over 7 hours where she was barely looked after nor kept informed as to what was happening. No observations taken for at least 6 hours and the reoccuring promise of the doctor coming to visit was becoming tiresome.

The attitude of the midwifery staff was appauling and they were incredibly lacking in concern for my wife's clearly highly pain level were not taken into consideration. When asking a midwife for a blanket she abruptly stated that there were none here as patients do not tend to say but she would go and get one when they weren't busy they then quite loudly said that "woman" wanted a blanket and they would be back shortly.

Quite honestly I am appauled by the overall treatment and the way my wife has been treated. I would avoid this place at all costs.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback.

We are very disappointed to hear of your wife’s experience;one of our senior midwives has already been in touch which we hope was helpful.

All of our maternity team take pride in delivering a high standard of care and are sorry we fell short of your expectations.
