"Very impressed all the way from A&E to Cardiology"

About: Bristol Royal Infirmary

I was admitted through A&E a few days after Christmas when the hospital was already under pressure and I was wondering what that might mean for me!

However, I can not sing the praises enough for everyone involved with looking after me throughout the whole patient journey (including 111, paramedics).

I was admitted to a private room which was spacious and cleaned to a very high standard.

My impression was that there was much effort from everyone involved to ensure that cleanliness, attention, and service was the best it could be and despite my earlier concerns about the time of year, I really didn't feel that I was receiving a substandard service due to the holiday season.

Ok, I did break the 4 hour A&E rule while waiting for a bed but I received regular updates on progress and my care plan while waiting.

Staff are so kind, caring, thoughtful, jolly and I don't know their name but the person who was delivering breakfasts was such a smiley/jolly person they were a pleasure/tonic to be around.

You always knew when they were on their way because you could hear them chatting and laughing to patients and staff.

I've always lived in Bristol (now 55) and remember the hospital having a bad reputation but I wouldn't hesitate to refer anyone to the BRI.

I stayed in the Cardiac Ward for 3.5 days and I felt that no chances were taken with my health whatsoever!

Thank you to all the Fab-u-lous staff in A&E / Cardiac Ward / Theatre / X-Ray / Echo Teams, keep up the good work!
