"Day surgery"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / General Surgery

(as the patient),

I had an operation under general anaesthetic on my achilles tendon in October at Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock. Whilst communication was great and staff were fabulous, waiting times could definitely be improved.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear 26blond12,

Thank you for sharing this with us. I am glad your operation went well and I hope you have fully recovered. I do believe that an Achilles tendon can take a long time to heal (sorry, no pun intended).

I am not entirely sure if you mean the wait for your operation could be improved or the wait in the day unit. (I suspect it may be for the operation) but whichever it was, I am sorry if this was too long for you and if it caused you any problems. I know that the Orthopaedics service has been under great pressure due to a very high demand on the service of late. I will pass your comments to the staff for their review.

Best wishes,

Eunice
