The patient is 91 years old and had been aware of a spot on her cheekbone under her left eye for some years. In the last year it had started to grow and was being affected by the rim of her glasses. I took her initially to see the GP who referred her to the Keyworth Dermatological Surgery. There the initial diagnosis was that it was a basal cell carcinoma and should be removed. A week later the patient had her "operation" and the spot was excised. The results showed happily that it was in fact a Keratocanthoma and wouldn't require further treatment. At all times she was treated with great dignity and respect. Thank you.
