"Very Limited"

About: Lymington New Forest Hospital

Initial impressions favourable. Excellent facilities, courteous reception staff and polite, friendly nurses however...ultimately the services offered are very limited.

No doctor on site to see my son in the minor injuries unit so a wasted trip. The GP practice which is based on site inflexible and unhelpful. A call to 111 pointless being referred to a dentist in Shirley (over 10 miles away) where my son "might" be seen (this was not strictly a dental problem any doctor could help in the interim)

My advice is don't waste time here and go to a proper hospital if you have anything more than a sprained ankle.

Response from Lymington New Forest Hospital

Thank you for sharing your feedback on NHS Choices. We are very sorry our services were not able to meet your sons needs when you visited. The Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) at Lymington New Forest Hospital is staffed from 8.00am until 21.00pm every day by Nurse Practitioners who have received advanced training and competency assessments in dealing with minor injuries. By providing this service we are able to avoid trips to Bournemouth or Southampton for a large number of people, who wait less time and receive the same high standard of minor injuries care. The hospital also hosts The Practice, a new accessible service by local GPs for patients registered with them. In association with West Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group, we review all attendances to our MIU every year to check we are providing the services needed locally, safely and at high quality. We are not able to provide all the services every person who may attends needs, and we are sorry your sons needs were outside the services we are able to offer. I would like to thank you for your kind comments, which have been shared with the staff who were on duty at the time of your visit. Kind regards, Customer Experience Team, 02380 874065
