I waited months for a referral to Stockton, and then was waiting months for a follow-up with no end in sight. Having decided on an endometrial ablation, which is a routine, quick operation, I had expected not to wait too long.
I found Stockton Hospital's administration hopeless - I couldn't even get through on the phone - so eventually I asked my GP to refer me elsewhere.
I chose the Gynaecology Dept at Hexham General, and was initially assesses by the Specialist Nurse, Diane. I took my notes and reports with me so they didn't have much new assessment to do. I decided on a Novasure ablation with laparoscopic sterilisation. I was offered a place on Mr Forsey's list 3 weeks later. So from GP referral at the end of October to surgery date on 23 Dec I was done and dusted in under 2 months.
Hexham Hospital is immaculately clean, and pleasant to be in. All the staff I dealt with were professional and caring. My procedure was straightforward and I was up and about quickly. I was in for day surgery, so I went home the same day.
Mr Forsey was excellent - well reputed, professional, caring, and very human. The anaesthetist and all the nursing staff were also professional, caring and very human.
I had the procedures done last week and am currently in Istanbul, running around having a lovely time and with plenty of energy. I cannot describe how pleased I am that I went to Hexham to have the operation. An excellent choice, a very positive experience, and 10/10 to hospital in general and also to James Forsey.
