"Delighted with my treatment"

About: Queen Victoria Hospital (East Grinstead)

I was referred to the Maxillo Facial unit by my doctor, following a fall in the street, when I hit my head on the ground. I saw my own doctor in the morning following the incident, and I was offered an appointment at 2pm the same day at QVH. From the moment I arrived at QVH, I was treated with respect and understanding. I was examined by an SHO, x-rayed (which revealed I had fractured my cheekbone) and spoken to by the Registrar. I was made fully aware of my condition and the prognosis for my recovery and the need for further treatment. I was very satisfied by the way I was treated and I felt really put at my ease, in spite of the shabby way that I was feeling that day.

I was offered a follow up appointment ten days later, when the need for an operation would be discussed, but at that appointment, the Maxfax team felt that whilst an operation was possible, it probably wasn't necessary; a view that I was more than happy to accept.

This is only the third time in my life that I have had to be treated in a hospital (now age 64) and I couldn't be more satisfied with the speed of my referral and the attitude of the all the medical personnel I came into contact with. I can't thank them enough.
