"Immediate help"

About: Hexham General Hospital

On Boxing Day I suffered a TIA and went initially to the Hexham Hospital Walk In centre. Even though I knew there was no longer an A&E department, I chose this route because I felt I would be safe in the first instant. The staff were both kind and efficient and called a blue light ambulance immediately. While waiting, they monitored me regularly and I felt reassured.

I would like to thank those involved for their help.

Dear Lesley

First of all I do hope that you are now recovering well at home.

The staff at Hexham were absolutely right to send you straight to the Northumbria hospital in Cramlington which treats emergencies such as yours.

I’ll pass on your thanks to the staff at the urgent care centre at Hexham for making you feel so reassured and well looked after before you went to Cramlington.

With best wishes

Claire Riley, director of communications and corporate affairs
