"Thanks for Christmas Meal"

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Adult mental health (inpatient)

(as the patient),

A member of staff on Rowan One ward at Highbury Hospital organised a Christmas meal off the ward at a Carvery Pub near Arnold. it was great to see the staff go to that extra length to make our stay more comfortable and relaxed by setting up Activities like this one. as most of us possibly wont be seeing our families during Christmas. Staff have made our Christmas on the ward abit special and very entertaining, has film nights, arts and crafts sessions and Baking with staff have made it amazing for us guys. we also were given Christmas Presents by the staff on Christmas Day.

Hello and many thanks for your post.

We're really pleased to hear that the day went well and that your experience on Rowan 1 was so positive.

We try to place a high emphasis on providing activities for patients on the ward as we are aware that sometimes a day in hospital can drag and lead to boredom/frustrations.

We have a wide selection of activities available that are tailored to the needs of the patients on the ward at that time and are proud of the level of interaction as we try to understood how we would feel to be in a similar position.

We hope to provide more for patients as we are aware that we can improve input and have made proposals for a dedicated activity co-ordinator to be employed on acute wards.

We should know more about the proposal in the spring/summer time, so fingers crossed!
