"My mother suffered a heart attack ..."

About: Northern General Hospital

(as a relative),

What could be improved

My mother suffered a heart attack a week ago and went to Barnsley hospital and was treated with great respect. After a few days she was transferred to Great Northern for further treatment and this is when the problems started.

We were told she would have her 'stent' on the Wednesday then was told the Thursday of this week.

We then received a call from my mum who was VERY distressed to be told it was not happening.

My father phoned the ward (Chesterman 2) to be greeted with a very rude ward sister. my father wanted to find out what was happening and to find out why my mum had not seen a doctor in the 2 days she had been their.

The ward sister was rude and spoke to my dad like a child. (My dad is very ill he recently had a pacemaker fitted). The Sister insisted my mum had seen a doctor so my dad asked for proof. At this point the Sister said my dad had been rude and put the phone down on him.

My dad phoned again and was spoken to like a child again so spoke to someone else who actual listen and offered advice and support. My dad went to the hospital to see my mum and while their asked to see a doctor who agreed that she had not been seen by a doctor. Next she was seen by a doctor who did not know about her or what she was wrong with her.

We are still waiting to find out what is happening and coping with a mum and dad who are very ill and stressed about this situation. Why in this day and age should people be treated with such disgust.

This matter will not be dropped and I hope other patients will not receive the same treatment from this member of staff.
