"Care for our mother"

About: Wexham Park Hospital

Our 86 year old mother (Daphne Patricia Jackson) was initially admitted with suspected pneumonia on 23rd Nov 2015 and was then transferred to ITU on 26th Nov and then to Ward 9 on 4th Dec (or thereabouts).

She sadly passed away in Ward 9 on 11th Dec but the care she received during her stay at Wexham was exemplary.

Although in Ward 20 initially - I think it was - a mixed OAP ward - which was busy and slightly disruptive due to suspected dementia patients continually calling out loudly, Mum felt very secure and well looked after at the hospital, especially in ITU and Ward 9.

In particular in ITU,

The doctor showed huge empathy and a friendly helpful approach - they took time to explain to my sister and I in private, the severity of Mum's condition. Mum felt very reassured by her care and she was a delight to liaise with.

The ITU nurses - too many to mention personally were 95% of the time amazingly dedicated and kind and caring.

In Ward 9, staff were especially helpful and caring when Mum passed away - their dedication (to ward 9 especially!) and obvious natural caring dedicated manner was hugely reassuring and welcome..

All the staff on the ward and the nursing staff who changed Mum's sanitary needs and bedding were always cheerful and helpful. Mum was always kept in a very clean condition and the Sodexo staff were equally supportive and encouraging. We are extremely grateful for the care we received and nothing was ever too much trouble for any of the staff - particularly in ITU and Ward 9.

Thank you very much!

Sue Roberts and Cheryl Jackson.

Dear Sue and Cheryl

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your Mum, Daphne; please accept my condolences.

I am very grateful that you have taken the time to leave your feedback on your experience of her care whilst she was an inpatient with us at Wexham.

We have a great team who all try to do their best to deliver the care they would want their own Mum or Dad to receive. Feedback like yours makes it all worthwhile; they will be pleased to share your comments with their teams.

Thank you for thinking of us at this difficult time Best wishes to you both and your families Kind Regards Claire Marshall
