"Waiting times."

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

My husband and I have both been unfortunate enough to fall ill with similar problems this year. We have spent several months visiting various departments within the hospital and when we have been seen most of the staff have been very good, although some have been less than helpful.cec The problems however come with the excessive waiting times we have experienced, particularly with the cardiology department. My husband had an MRI scan on the 1st October and subsequently received a letter which showed he was suffering from myocarditis but contained no information about what he needed to do. The appointment to see a cardiologist for treatment/advice was not due until April, this has now been postponed until July without explanation...almost a year with no information or treatment. Personally I have now been waiting 2 months for an angiogram appointment which I was led to believe by the thoracics team was urgent, to identify the cause of my own heart problem following some positive test results. I have yet to have any contact or advice from the cardiology department and we continue to struggle on a daily basis. We have tried speaking to patient liaison but they seem to be powerless to help. There seems to be no linked working between the cardiology and thoracics departments.
