"I'm grateful"

I gave birth to my second child, in early May, weighing 11lbs 3 oz. My daughter was born naturally after my waters were broken, but due to her size and position, suffered shoulder dystocia during the second stage of labour. Within seconds, my delivery room was filled with staff, all of whom were performing various roles, attempting to deliver my baby. It took nearly 3 minutes for her to be delivered, where she was rushed away to be resuscitated. A little over 24 hours later, I had my baby in my arms and she has been with me ever since, thriving and beautifully healthy and unharmed by the ordeal.

I could never put into words how grateful I am to every single member of staff that had perfected the emergency procedure for shoulder dystocia, and to every member of staff that participated in changing my baby's Apgar score from 2 to 7 in minutes. I'm grateful to my midwife that reassured me while I was waiting to hear how my baby was, and also to the staff in high dependency who took care of my beautiful girl whilst animatedly congratulating us and making us feel exceptionally welcome despite the intimidating rooms full of emergency wires and machines. Finally, I am sincerely grateful for every nurse, doctor and midwife that ever checked on me and my baby at any stage of our stay. You are all simply amazing and you do an incredible job.
