The outpatients hysteroscopy procedure for post menapausal bleeding with biopsies was extremely painful I almost passed out, I remember the consultant saying "are you still with us? " The cramping post procedure was extremely painful and reduced me too tears.
Prior to the procedure I and other women had to comfort a patient who had a hystoscopy and was so distressed as the procedure was extremely painful. She would have to return so that the procedure could be carried out under a GA. The next patient came out and said "I hope you didn't hear me scream" and "if 7 is the worst pain it won't get worse"
I wasn't too nervous still about the procedure as I thought everyone's pain threshold is different and having had 2 natural births I figured my pain threshold is high. How wrong was I.
I would not agree to this procedure again without anaesthetic.
