In August 2011 I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, during the initial months of this condition I received very sound advice and information from members of the Urology Dept. and along with my wife decided the way forward was Active Surveillance.
For the next 4 years I continued with my normal life albeit with numerous Blood Tests and appointments at Urology to monitor my P.S.A. levels, several Biopsies and an MRI Scan.
Throughout these 4 years all the Urology Team clearly explained all results and options etc…and I cannot praise their professionalism and dedication highly enough. In early-mid 2015 due to rising P.S.A. and Gleason Score Biopsy results the time came for a Radical Prostatectomy.
On 20th October, I underwent this procedure and 8 weeks later I am fit and well enough to return to full time working.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Professor who carried out the procedure and a special thanks to a particular member of staff who has guided me and my wife throughout these past 4 years, answered all our questions, replied to all my phone calls and e-mails within 24 hours and even sorted out the occasional Medway Maritime administration problems for me – you are the best!
