"Patient care and waiting times"

About: Royal Gwent Hospital / Urology University Hospital Of Wales / Urology

(as a relative),

My mum has been ill since February of this year with not being able to urinate properly. We have taken her down to the royal gwent on numerous times in absolute agony. The only procedures they did were to insert a catheter and send her home. On one occasion my mum had to show the healthcare assistants how to put her bag on because the nurse was too busy to show them. After taken her down to MAU on Tuesday, after waiting 7hrs of my mother being ill, she was admitted to c6 east ward.

I asked a nurse if my mums blood results had come back, but she said that she wasn't sure what they were testing my mum for.

Before my mum was taken into hospital she had an appointment down the Heath hospital in Cardiff which was on the Wednesday. This appointment had been booked for a while, we'll cut a long story short, this appointment was urgent and needed to be kept, The doctor at the gwent told us that they were going to cancel the appointment. So we never made any arrangements to go to the appointment, but on the morning of the appointment we had a phone call of mum in hospital saying she has to go to the appointment and there's no ambulances available to take her down to Cardiff, could we rush down and get her because she was going to be late? I was absolutely so annoyed. We had to drag my sick mum through the hospital in her dressing gown to the car to take her to Cardiff. When we got there we where given the devastating news that my mum has urethra cancer and was to be kept in immediately.

Now someone please tell me this is appalling patient care on the royal gwent. I feel that she is in so much better hands in the Heath hospital. Royal gwent you should be ashamed of yourselves. This is only a snapshot of everything that has happened since February. I'm just hoping and praying that my mum will come through this.
