About: Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

Was forced to go to hospital against my wishes by paramedics (and police) at 4am.

Staff spoke to me like I was stupid, very patronising.

Staff member that took my blood did an awful job, it was extremely painful, took multiple attempts and left both my arms sore from hand to shoulder for days.

Took 8 hours to get results back (bloods were fine)

Was given no medical treatment at all.

Was given no food or water until 10am, 7 hours after arriving, I finally got some water.

Had to use my coat as a blanket, bed sheets are far too thin.

Was offered a bus ticket home (over an hour on bus) when all I had were the pyjamas I was wearing.

Staff completely ignored me whilst I was there, didn't even acknowledge me when I was leaving or say "bye".

I don't expect a hospital to run like a hotel, but a little compassion would be nice.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your recent hospital experience. What you describe is not what we expect for patients and we do appreciate that coming to hospital can be very stressful. All patients should be treated with compassion and I am sorry that you found this lacking. Your post has been shared with the staff in the A/E Department who would be keen to look into this further.
