"Nothing But Care"

About: Highbury Hospital

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

The ward is good. I have experienced nothing but care, sensitivity and a relaxing environment. The ward had been consistently kept clean and fresh, calm and well managed. At times where I have felt a little vulnerable and uncertain, the nursing staff have have been nothing short of excellent at providing a listening ear and a warm empathetic demeanor.

The food has been awesome, and I feel all my needs have been met both physically, mentally and also spiriturally.

The facilities have been great because I have had plenty to do, including arts and crafts, ping-pong, OT.

I have had the opportunity on numerous occassions to leave the ward and engage in fulfilling activities and I have found these to be extremely supportive in gaining wellness and in keeping my mood elevated.

I would suggest an activities co-ordinator on the ward, just to facilitate regular day-trips as I fell these would further enhance wellness-seeker well-being.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback about Highbury Hospital. It’s always good to get some positive feedback and I will be sure to pass this on to the staff.

Your comments about a ward based activity co-ordinator are most appreciated. We recognise the importance that activity has in a person’s recovery and it is an area that we are keen to develop further. We are looking at how we can further improve and increase activities, particularly for those individuals who are unable to leave the ward environment. Activity co-ordinators have been shown to have a positive impact on the uptake of activities in other areas and it is something that may be appropriate to our settings.
