Operation cancelled again

"Operation cancelled again"

About: Freeman Hospital / Cardiology

(as a relative),

Today, I have been told my heart operation has been cancelled,

That's three times admitted in to hospital. That's three times arranging transport to and from hospital. That's three times building myself up for the operation. This is very stressful and is doing my already heart problem no good.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on our Cardiothoracic Services at the Freeman Hospital. We deeply regret that your surgery has been cancelled again today and apologise for the additional stress and inconvenience caused. May we reassure you the waiting List Office will be in touch within the next few days to offer a further date for your surgery.

We do our utmost to avoid cancellations, but unfortunately when emergencies occur these must take priority for the intensive care beds available.

We are however expanding bed capacity within the intensive care unit to help reduce the need for cancellations in the future. If you have any concerns or questions please do not hesitate to contact LIZ Bailey, Cardiothoracic Directorate Manager on 0191 2137672.
