"A&E Department"

About: Scunthorpe General Hospital

I am very impressed at the service given by staff to my father on the three occasions we attended a&e over last Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The staff there were absolutely excellent, and we dealt with a lot of them over 3 days.

I had cause for concern on the Saturday as a nurse dropped the surgical gloves on the floor and proceeded to put them on to remove my fathers cannula.

I confronted them about it and asked them to change the gloves.

They didn't understand what I was asking of them so I proceeded to point and gesticulate to their hands, to the bin, to the box of gloves.

They did remove them and get a fresh pair.

Perhaps training on better hygiene practices for this nurse alone is warranted.

Every other nurse/doctor attending my father washed hands and selected fresh gloves.

I have given 5 stars across the board because this one incident shouldn't detract from the otherwise flawless service.
