"Problem with alarm on ward"

About: Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

This story has been posted by Healthwatch Tameside on behalf of a member of the public. We have their details and will forward any comments to them. They said…

I was a patient on Day Care Ward. I arrived on the ward and arrived earl in the morning. An alarm kept going off, about every 20 minutes. Each time a member of staff had to re-set the alarm by pressing something on the alarm unit with a pen or something. I was a patient on the ward for 21 hours. This alarm kept going off all through that time. I could not relax after my surgery and could not wait to go home. When I did get home I went straight to bed. The night staff said that it should have been reported by the day staff, but they hadn’t. She reported it, but it could not be fixed until the morning.

Many thanks for these comments; I am terribly sorry for the distress that the alarm caused you.

I will pass your comments to the Day Surgery ward to ensure staff realise the impact the alarm had on your stay.
