"'The Mens Group is fantastic!"

About: Mansfield and Ashfield Community Learning Disability Team; Intellectual Developmental Disabilities ( IDD)

(as a service user),

The best things about the group is 'socialising with everyone. Getting out of the house. I used to be in the house all the time but now I'm not. When I came to the group first I didn't like one of the lads but now we are the best of friends and after the group ends we are still going to meet up and go out for the day.

I always help with the cooking in the group and it's given me some independence. I help to look after my gran at home and its given me a break coming here and having a bit of fun too. You couldn't wish for a better group of lads.

Paul H & Paul C (the staff) have been brilliant.

I learnt to work together as a team. If I could be in the kitchen all the time I would!

Please can we do it again? It gives me so much and helped me to be motivated and something to get out of bed for and stops me moping around the house.

It gives my Mum a break.

Dear Stanley1

Thank you for your feedback and honesty, the information you provide information helps us to plan and deliver future services. We are pleased to hear you have found the men’s group beneficial and we thank you for all the hard work and support you have provided to others. Paul and I will pass on your feedback to our manages and will do everything we can to keep supporting you now that the group has finished. You should feel very proud of the work you have accomplished and it is clear to me that without your positivity, and that of your fellow members, the group would not have worked so well. We are especially pleased to hear that you have been able to develop an important personal relationship and that you plan to continue meeting up now that the group has ended. It is clear that you enjoy learning new cooking skills and that you would enjoy a similar group experience so I shall keep you informed about any groups the Occupational Therapy / Community Learning Disability teams run or hear about. Keep up all your hard work and good luck for the future.

Best wishes

Paul.
