I was so scared of labour, to the point I refused to go to any antenatal classes because I would find out too much. But I quickly realised that I had nothing to worry about from the moment I phoned the delivery suite and was asked to go in.
The midwife and their student, carried out examinations, monitored me and my baby, and safely delivered my boy with true professionalism and reassurance. They made me feel that they believed in me and my ability to deliver my baby - something which I struggled to believe myself. They went over and above what you would usually expect from any medical professional - utterly amazing!!
I was made to feel at ease throughout the entire labour, as daft as that sounds, and I can only thank the staff for that.
Once I was quickly assisted by healthcare assistants to get cleaned up and they offered both me and my husband a cooked meal (which we were very surprised about). They then wheeled me to the Wrekin Unit in a swift but again professional manner, handing me over to the midwife there.
The Wrekin Unit was just as welcoming and offered to help with all of my needs. They even insisted on my husband not messing about with sterilising bottles at home as they had plenty I could use.
The food really was good and there were plenty of refreshments available.
When I was discharged, the staff were even willing to help us to the car in dreadful weather.
I cannot thank the staff our PRH enough for all of their help and support. They are all amazing and should be proud of the job that they are doing.
