In July 2015 I had my third heart attack but this one was more serious than the other two I had. I was admitted to ward 37 where I had fantastic care by the staff.
After I had my angiography which revealed I needed a triple bypass I was referred to a surgeon and a week later I had an appointment to see Mr Walker who confirmed I needed to have a triple bypass and explained what my angiogram had revealed. I of course agreed to have this done and he explained that it was urgent and intended to call me in in the next couple of weeks.
This happened actually 3 weeks later and had my bypass performed. I was extremely scared but the staff in the operating theatre were absolutely fantastic and tried to reassure me that I would be fine and was in good hands and had an excellent anaesthetist as well.
After my operation I was sent to the cardiac intensive care where I again received fantastic care where you had one nurse looking after you and on changeover to the night staff again one to one care. Mr Walker is the most attentive surgeon I have ever experienced he was fantastic and couldn't wish for a better surgeon. I had problems lifting my arms to eat and he brought me some large utensils to help me to eat and this worked. I can't praise him enough.
I then went to ward 39 a week later when again I received marvellous care. I will battle anyone who says the NHS are rubbish everyone is committed and hard-working and would have no hesitation in recommending Blackpool Victoria Hospital. I feel privileged to live in the vicinity of this hospital where I can rely on great care.
