"Good care in Maternity Outpatients"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Maternity care

(as a relative),

My sister was attending an appointment for a glucose tolerance test last Friday. My sister was extremely nauseated and quite distressed as she has a very bad fear of needles.

My sister was seen promptly by an auxiliary Nurse named Alison.

She was everything that you would ever expect or hope your nurse would be. She dealt with my sister with respect, she was warm and caring and really understood how distressed she was.

I am a nurse myself and recognise excellent care. This member of staff is an asset to your clinical area and indeed to the NHS.

Thank you to you and your colleagues for making a stressful visit very bearable.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Mark the Nurse,

I am so pleased you and your sister feel this way about the care received from Alison, she sounds ideally suited to the job she has chosen to do. I will be delighted to pass this post to Alison and the team to ensure they receive your thanks. I do hope the result of the test is good and her pregnancy and labour all go smoothly and to plan.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us your story.

Best wishes

Eunice
