"Awful hospital - staff very unfriendly - very..."

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London)

Awful place to come give birth to a child. We had our first child here. First issues were that no one wanted to see us. We waited in waiting room for 1.5 hours - only when wife started bleeding did anyone bother to come. Once given a room - it had a window which could not be shut ( bearing in mind this was in sept and was cold ). Midwifes failed to give anti biotic - as wife was group b strep. This then meant we had to stay at the hospital for 3 days. Once baby was born - trainee midwifes stitched wife up wrong - stitches had to be taken out - then done again - they were done again wrong - and only done correctly the third time. By this time wife then got an infection and had lost loads of blood. At the same time - the room was freezing so baby's temperature was not correct.

Had to stay here for a further 2 days after baby was born as the correct care in the first place was not given. Further complications as doctors never come on ward - they only seem to ever have one doctor on the ward - i appreciate its a big hospital - but then more doctors should be around to see what needs doing. Baby required anti biotic - and i was told the day before that it had to be 24 hours after the first dose. Back on the ward the next day - no one could be bothered to give it. I had to force myself to intensive care where the baby had been the previous day - to get them to give her the dose. The intensive care unit are very good - but i don't want my baby to get to that stage - before they start doing anything

Loads of agency staff there - who could not care at all about the patients. Its a big hospital - and they generally just try and move you from dept to dept and keep you waiting for hours on end in each department. Next baby has been registered to be born at another hospital. Avoid St Georges.
