I had a home birth, and when I called the hospital in labour the receptionist got the midwife on call to ring me straight away. Both midwives who attended my birth were amazing, very friendly and made the whole experience perfect.

We then had to come into SCBU to have our daughters newborn health check, and the staff were very gentle with our baby and explained why they did each test. We had also been given an appointment for the following week at Wansbeck for her hearing screening, but on arrival at NSECH they had arranged for someone to do it there and then to save us the extra trip out with our newborn.

I can't comment on the maternity facilities as I didn't use them, but on the tour they appeared to be very clean and comfortable
