My 32 year old sisters breast cancer was not picked up by this hospital when she had an ultra sound scan.
She should have been referred for a mammogram and biopsy. As she had a suspicious lump they should have booked a follow up appointment.
If they had done this then the cancer would probably have been picked up early.
Instead she died last month.
I was referred by my doctor to the hospital for regular mammograms and because I am 38 and not 40 they have decided that I am not high risk and cannot have one until I am 40 ( all after sitting with me for over an hour asking very traumatic questions about which family member died of what and when).
I knew my sister was terminal at this point it was very upsetting and I was caught vulnerable and agreed to this ridiculous suggestion.
Please get someone to use some common sense when looking at guidelines.
I was going to just pay for this privately but actually have just received my tax breakdown and looking at the form a considerable amount of my income has gone into this system! Why should I!! I will be back you will not be allowed to be lazy with me as well how am I not high risk! I have watched my sister go through hell absolute hell begging to die at the age of 34 how dare you not take this seriously.
I will be back with my husband to back me up so that you cannot take advantage of a traumatic situation.
