About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Gastroenterology

Attended The Glasgow Royal Infirmary endoscopy unit with my dad for a bowel screening colonoscopy. Very welcoming staff and couldn't have been kinder. I am a charge nurse in another endoscopy unit and I understand how busy a day can be, so really appreciate the service my dad received. Thank you.

I work in a small team in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde which seeks to involve patients and carers in the work of the NHS. The biggest part of my role is in managing feedback projects across the Board area, one of which is Patient Opinion. It is my job to give our patients and carers the opportunity to give us feedback, and to make sure that this is passed to the right people to help us improve the services we provide.

Thanks very much for getting in touch - as you say, you probably know better than most how busy staff can be on a day to day basis, but you have also demonstrated how much of a difference a warm welcome and a kind word can make to the patients and their families. It doesn't take a lot to treat people with respect and kindness, particularly in situations where they are probably quite nervous anyway, and it really changes the whole experience for the patient. It's really great to see this in practice at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
