What could be improved
Care,consideration,information to relatives
Anything else?
My mother was admitted with infection of the leg. During her 17 days stay at the Hospital her care left a lot to be desired. She was severely arthritic and had very limited mobility in hands/legs. She required assitance in eating - which was not given, the drinks tray was placed out of her reach. We managed to assist her when visiting. She became severly dehydrated, requiring a drip.
We noticed that her mental condition was also deteriorating (on admittance she was bright and had an active mind) - the comment received was "She is probably fed up"
A 3 1/2 hour wait to speak to a ward doctor...
The culmination of her stay was that to quote the Doctors - We can now find nothing wrong with her, she has a slight kidney infection but that is not a problem and can be discharged. 5 minutes after arriving back at her Nursing home she died.....
The care given to this elderly patient was abysmal.
