"Ward 32 Communication 24 November 2015"

About: Glenfield Hospital

On 24/11/2015 I had a 1.00pm appointment for a ICD lead repositioning. A bed was available by 2.15 pm and I was prepped for my procedure. Theatre gown, chest shaved and canula fitted in my left hand.

I appreciated that the procure before me ( I was no. 2 for the afternoon) was complex and the patient was returned to the ward approx 5.30pm. At 5.45pm I was informed that my procedure would not now take place. Surely someone on the ward knew the situation before 5.00pm if not before, and I could have been discharged an hour earlier.

Dear reviewer,

We are really sorry to hear about your experience in Cardiology at Glenfield Hospital.

Unfortunately due to the nature of other operations and procedures we are not always in a position to advise timings, change of plans as early as we would like however we would like to look into your concerns so we can improve our service for future patients. If you are happy for us to do so, please send your details (name, address, hospital number) to benjamin.hyde@uhl-tr.nhs.uk and we will investigate.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comment. Your feedback is very important to us.

Kind regards,

Ben Hyde, Matron, Ward 32 and Angiocatheter Suite.
