I recently suffered a sharp pain in my left big toe. The pain was similar to a wasp sting and was unrelenting. My wife phoned the Doctor's surgery who suggested I visit the Wallingford First aid unit and I arrived around half an hour later. After a short time I was seen by a Doctor (Will) and soon after he was joined by a colleague (John) who diagnosed that with my symptoms, unfortunately I was suffering from gout.
I was advised to make an appointment with my family Doctor and in the meantime to take paracetamol or Ibroprofen at regular intervals, and rest my foot. It was good that I was seen so quickly.
