The design of this A&E facility was created almost 20 years ago. Needless to say that since this vision was created, the population has increased ten fold therefor the capabilities of managing a functional emergency department is not within the remit of this organisation.
The current guidelines suggest that a patient should be seen within 4 hours of attending A&E, however after I spent 15 hours in this department without a clear plan as to what care I needed, is suggestive that this facility is not functioning appropriately.
I have worked as a health professional in various sectors of the NHS organisation and I would whole heatedly recommend that patients do not use this facility. I would much prefer to recommend Barnsley A&E where the facilities, staff ratios and genuine person centred care are practiced more affectively.
"Never again!"
