Following a routine midwife appointment and being unwell for 10 days it was suggested by my midwife to go to fern to check my baby's reduced movement. Midwife called to book in a time and we arrived. Overall staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. I was seen by a doctor who advised they would give me a prescription which they never did. I was made to feel like I was wasting their time as little one livened up as soon as on the monitor. I was left on the monitor for 1.5 hours after being told It would be 30 minutes, not knowing what a babies heart beat is like it was concerning with the rate and no one to ask!
The place was full with kids running around, people listening to loud music on their phones and over all it was like a chavvy cafe with people overspilling into the open spaces who I presume were visitors all laughing and bringing back coffees. When your in this environment feeling unwell, and anxious about your baby this is not what you need. There is talk of needing an induction which I dread as this ward is vile, and also not exactly very clean. I really wished I could have my child someone else. I would like to add that there has been recent UK research from 2013-2015 of high rates of avoidable still births due to poor antenatal care, it's really no wonder after what I experienced here!
