"Little sympathy from night staff "

About: Barnsley Hospital / Accident and emergency Barnsley PCT

(as the patient),

I was admitted to Barnsley General Hospital in late August via A+E with a heart problem. All the staff on the cardiac ward were so caring and kind with nothing too much trouble for them it made you feel so humble and I give my heartfelt thanks to them all.

However, I was then transferred to the general ward, and what a difference, daytime was not too bad but I found the night time horrendous. Four patients in my unit, three of us with serious heart problems and one muscular patient who warned us three that he was in charge. The other patients and I asked for his removal as he threatened us with violence. After several requests and packing my things saying I wanted to leave the ward, the patient was moved next door. I feel that I mentally suffered because of this hospital arrangement with little sympathy from the night staff who in my opinion were seriously overstretched and I felt didn't have the time to care.
