"Colonoscopy"

About: Wharfedale Hospital

The staff in the endoscopy unit are supportive, reassuring and friendly.

Everything seems to be done to ensure that patients are treated with courtesy and consideration before, during and after the examination.

I was impressed at being given a copy of the report afterwards; being treated as an intelligent person is very welcome.

One small comment: while waiting, I glanced through a copy of Gastroenterology Today(?) which was amongst the magazines provided, and read an item mentioning patients who refused to have a second colonoscopy because they found it so painful.

This was not the most tactful reading material in the circumstances!

In the event, the examination was not particularly unpleasant.

Dear Anonymous

Many thanks for taking the time to provide us with your feedback, it is wonderful to read that you were happy with the care staff gave and that you felt reassured.

I am, however, sorry that the reading material available did not help to put you at ease! I will pass this feedback to the department for them to look in to the issue and remove the magazine.

Kindest regards

Rosie
